I haven't updated my blog in awhile, but I recently started thinking about how I might add a third monitor to my system. I've had a Dell 1703FP swivel monitor in portrait mode next to an Acer AL2216W widescreen monitor for a long time. This allows me to load web-pages on a nice tall screen while watching videos, editing photos etc on a widescreen desktop. I thought about simply plugging a monitor into my motherboard's VGA port but through trial and error realized this wouldn't work on my system. I just came across a PNY GeForce 8400GS on clearance that I placed in an empty PCI slot. Having two video boards with an Nvidia chipset works great. I initially used a spare Dell monitor but my preference was for a second Dell 1703FP monitor to flank my Acer. I found one on Ebay a few days ago and it arrived today. The next challenge in this setup is matching color settings between the different monitors.
